Websense Data Security

Websense Data Security version 7.6.3 is now generally available (GA) for customers and partners to download on MyWebsense.com. Data Security now supports mobile email DLP for iOS, Android, Symbian and Windows mobile devices that use ActiveSync. The new ActiveSync proxy agent, a Linux-based appliance, resides between Exchange and mobile users to apply data loss and theft policies to email content and attachments. This delivers phase two of the Mobile Security strategy with phase one previously providing WiFi web, email and data security to tablets and mobile devices.

New and existing customers can benefit from the enhancements explained below:

  • DLP for Mobile Device Email
    • Control the availability of sensitive data over mobile email – helping to protect data from loss and theft. (aka. ActiveSync proxy agent)
  • Portable Decryption from Endpoint
    • Allow users to deliver encrypted files outside the corporate network on removable media devices and open the files using an embedded decryption tool and the relevant password.
  • IBM Lotus Domino Fingerprinting & Discovery
    • Fingerprint and perform discovery on documents stored in an IBM Lotus Domino Data Management Server (DMS).
  • Additional Endpoint enhancements:
    • Enable endpoint agents to update themselves automatically when a new package is made available.
    • Package and install a single agent for Data Security and Remote Filter/Web Endpoint.
  • Reporting enhancements:
    • Filter Web incidents by user preference. For example, view the most severe Web DLP incidents by the geographical location where they occurred.
    • Display details for the manager and the manager’s manager when presenting an incident source originator from LDAP.
    • An optional delete forensics feature that can be manually enabled to delete incidents after they are closed. This feature is required under regulation for some countries.

In addition to the above major features, this release includes more than 50+ customer fixes. The most important corrections and stability enhancements that you should be aware of include:

  • Improved performance of database fingerprint detection at the endpoint.
  • Successful import of multiple CSV files.
  • Ability to install Data Endpoint when the firewall on the endpoint is disabled.
  • Correctly-enforced endpoint disk space settings.
  • Synchronization of all database fingerprinting tasks to secondary servers.
  • Continuation of the Microsoft Firewall service when an ISA agent loses connection.
  • Improved flow for email when "block on fail" option is marked in the SMTP agent.
  • Exchange discovery using the EWS protocol now operates as designed.
  • Accurately displaying file name in the incident when files are matched at the endpoint based on binary fingerprint.
