Redmond Magazine readers recently voted and granted two 2009 Reader's Choice Awards to Websense. This year's win earned Websense Web Filter the "Grand Slam" title for four consecutive wins in the "Best Web Usage Monitor" category, and named Websense Web Security, the "Preferred Product" in the "Best Intrusion-Detection System" category.  The Reader's Choice Awards recognize products that deliver consistently solid results on an annual basis.  New this year, Redmond Magazine added the title of "Grand Slam" to highlight products that have secured the Reader's Choice award four times in a row within the same category, while the "Preferred Product" title goes to the products "separated themselves from the pack".  For more info on the 2009 Reader's Choice Awards, click here.

The federal government designated October as national Cyber Security Awareness Month.  In this short video on the White House blog, President Obama explains the importance of cyber security and gives strategies for protecting yourself while online.

For the seventh year in a row, independent research firm IDC has named Websense the leader in the overall Web security market, which comprises software, appliance and software-as-a-service (SaaS) Web security to protect against inbound threats and prevent outbound data leaks. Websense captured 26.2 percent of the 2008 worldwide market revenue for Web security software and experienced 96.3 percent revenue growth in the SaaS Web security segment.

Patrik Runald recently joined Websense as Senior Manager, Security Research in the Websense Security Labs. Websense Takes Home 2009 SC Magazine Reader Trust Awards for Best Web Filtering Solution and Best Data Loss Prevention Solution

For the fourth year in a row, Websense has won a Reader Trust Award in the annual SC Magazine Award program for outstanding achievement in information technology security. Websense Web Security was named "Best Web Filtering Solution" and Websense Data Security Suite was named "Best Data Loss/Leakage Prevention Solution." Websense trumped Symantec, McAfee and RSA in the Data Loss Prevention category.

The annual SC Awards showcase the best solutions, services and professionals while recognizing achievement and technical excellence in the information security industry. With nearly 700 entries submitted in thirty categories, the 2009 SC Awards was the most competitive yet in the program's twelve-year history.

Websense was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in The Forrester Wave(TM): Content Security Suites, Q2 2009, The Forrester WaveTM: Web Filtering, Q2 2009, The Forrester WaveTM: Email Filtering, Q2 2009.
