SAN DIEGO, Jun 7, 2010 -- Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN) today announced that Gartner, Inc. has positioned Websense as a leader in its recently released "Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention."(i) The firm evaluated Websense® Data Security solutions, part of Websense TRITON ™ architecture, which unifies content-based security products. Vendors in the Magic Quadrant are selected based on their ability to execute and completeness of vision.
The report concludes, "The Leaders have demonstrated good understanding of client needs and offer comprehensive capabilities in all three functional areas — network, discovery and endpoint — directly or through well-established partnerships and tight integration. They offer aggressive road maps, and they will need to execute on those road maps, fully incorporate enhanced features currently in development and address evolving market needs to remain in the Leaders quadrant.”
Websense data loss prevention (DLP) solutions, including Websense Data Security Suite are tightly integrated into Websense’s industry-leading Websense Web Security Gateway and Websense Email Security through the Websense TRITON architecture. The infrastructure integrates the real-time content analysis with both inbound and outbound data awareness, to protect organizations and their essential information from blended threats and targeted attacks while easing administration and lowering total cost of ownership.
"We believe that Websense’s inclusion in the Leaders Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention recognizes our continued ability to meet and surpass the data loss prevention needs for organizations today while also demonstrating the strength of our unified TRITON system,” said John McCormack, president, Websense. “Our strategy to unify the full enterprise functionality of the Data Security Suite into our Web and email channels – while simplifying management of these policies through the single management console of the TRITON architecture – offers the most easy to use and effective solution.”
Being recognized as a leader in the recent "Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention" continues an ongoing pattern of recognition for Websense Data Security Solutions for the integration of this award winning technology into Websense’s core Web and Email products. Recent accolades include recognition for increased customer growth, channel specific data loss prevention, industry analyst accolades, security industry awards, channel partner growth and new certifications.
According to the Gartner report, "As DLP tools mature, use cases for managing sensitive data are becoming more sophisticated. Use cases associated with social media have become more common, especially those involving operations when the computer is not connected to the corporate network."
“Even in highly regulated environments like the energy sector, we’re seeing increasing business use cases that seek to take advantage of dynamic Web and social media tools – these applications can present potential risks to our sensitive data without the right security in place,” said Websense Customer Chris Sawall, supervisor, Information Security, Ameren Services, part of Ameren Corporation, parent of the largest electric utility company in Missouri and the second largest electric utility in Illinois . “With Websense Data Security solutions tightly integrated with Websense Web Security Gateway, we can open up our business units to Web 2.0 sites, while protecting against malicious threats and safeguarding confidential information from intentional and accidental data loss. Websense DLP also educates our employees about potential data security risks and best practices, helping them minimize future risk.”
Websense Data Security solutions include easy-to-use policy wizards to quickly select from more than 1100 policy templates, ranging from the PCI DSS, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and more. The solutions are available as a standalone solution or can be integrated with Websense Web and Email solutions and through the TRITON architecture.
