Introducing new features in Websense SaaS security solutions

The problem of botnet-compromised computers is a real issue for organizations. Once one computer on the network is affected, it can quickly spread to other computers on the network. IT managers are constantly worried that botnets might be holding some of their computers hostage or that one of their machines has been compromised by a Trojan Horse and is sending out confidential data.

Tracking and cleaning these compromised computers as the infection spreads through the network can take countless man hours and massive investigation.

Now, Websense has a new reporting tool as part of its software-as-a-service (saas) Web Security Gateway that informs users what threats are trying to come IN to their organization and what information is trying to LEAVE their organization. The new Web malware report instantly shows Web malware detections filtered by direction so that users can easily isolate malware coming in and being sent out of their network. Malware Detail gives the administrator access to the details of any uploaded or downloaded malware in the selected time period. This means that if they have an issue with malware in their system, they can isolate the details of where it has come from and where it has gone, right down to the user.

The newest version of Websense saas security solutions, which also includes Websense Hosted Email Security, includes new features such as:

Password security – To improve security, users who wish to change their password must now enter their old password first as verification. A list of security questions has been added to verify identity and aid in password recovery. A ‘forgot password’ link now allows user to reset their passwords without administrative intervention.

Configurable lockout – To prevent unauthorized access, administrators may now define a lockout time period and the maximum number failed login attempts before a lockout is triggered. Administrators may reset locked logins at any time.

PDF reports – All reports can now be saved and downloaded in PDF format for more convenient viewing and distribution.

Web malware report – A new report shows Web malware detections filtered by direction so that you can easily isolate malware coming in and being sent out of your network.

Web performance monitor – Web proxy request latency is now reported allowing for improved performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Extended Web reporting – The Web request detailed summary report now includes 90 days of historical information.

Web and Email Spam category – A new Web filtering category has been added for Web sites that are used in email spam campaigns.

Keep copy disposition – An option has been added to allow emails that trigger policy violations to be delivered with a copy retained for administrative review and action.
