Websense also positioned as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention
SAN DIEGO, June 8, 2011 - In 2010, 52 percent of data-stealing attacks were conducted over the web(i) and 2011 doesn't look any safer. To stop targeted attacks and advanced persistent threats (APTs), organizations need new security strategies. Their content security needs to examine-in real time-the substance of each website and email. Traditional endpoint and network security products are no longer sufficient. That's why Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN) developed the TRITONTM solution, including the Websense® Web Security Gateway. And today, Websense announced that Gartner, Inc. has positioned Websense as a leader in its recently released "Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateway."(ii)
"I work better and sleep better knowing that Websense Web Security Gateway is protecting my organization from known and unknown targeted attacks and APTs," said Ali Ashraf, senior systems administrator for Seedco, a Websense TRITON customer. "I am not surprised that Websense is in the Leaders Quadrant for Secure Web Gateway. My team is responsible for making sure that confidential data isn't stolen, while still empowering employees to safely use the web-including the social web-to its fullest potential. Websense TRITON is key to our success."
Vendors in the Magic Quadrant are evaluated based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute. Gartner, Inc. evaluated the Websense Web Security Gateway. Featuring embedded enterprise-class data loss prevention for web communications and real-time scanning of web content, its gateway is powered by the Websense Advanced Classification Engine (ACE). ACE beats the competition because it combines multiple advanced analytics and composite risk scoring to detect advanced malicious attacks that evade antivirus solutions.
Websense is also positioned as a leader in the "Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention."(iii) Websense data loss prevention (DLP) solutions are tightly integrated into Websense's Web Security Gateway and Email Security Gateway, parts of the Websense TRITON solution.
TRITON offers complementary web, email, and DLP security as standalone packages with snap-in migration or all together from day one. The TRITON solution is available in enterprise-grade appliances, as cloud-based services (SaaS), or as powerful and efficient hybrids of on-premise and SaaS elements working together.
"Every day I talk to customers who can't rely on outdated legacy solutions to protect them from cybercriminals intent on stealing their valuable data," said John McCormack, president, Websense. "Make no mistake - targeted attacks aren't just limited to large organizations. Cybercriminals are after any organization that has data they could profit from. We've seen criminals use multiple known and unknown vulnerabilities, target specific data types, carry out attacks over an extended period of time, and use multiple vectors to penetrate networks and steal data. Websense unified content protection is the new must-have solution to defend against modern threats and protect your data."
According to a recent Gartner Inc. report, Websense is the 2010 market share leader in Secure Web Gateway based on total software worldwide.(iv) For more information about Websense Web Security Gateway, please visit http://www.websense.com/content/SecurityGateway.aspx?cmpid=prnr11.6.8.
