We removed surfcontrol, now we're trying to reinstall the application.

Everything goes well until the creation of the database.

If i select a remote sql 2005 database server i cannot create a new database.
If i select a remote sql 2005 database server and i select use an existing database i can't see any other database on that server (There are several database including a surfcontrol database)

I tried installing sql express locally and then connect to the local database server then i get an error:

Unexpected SQL error
An unexpected error occurred when attempting to contact the server

Telnet to port 1433 on sql server is no problem.

I can also make an odbc connection to the sql server with another database.

If i'm in the configuration wizzard of surfcontrol i can't see the other database.

I also tried a clean install on another server but then i have the same problem.

you need special permissions on the SQl server/database to create or connect ot it when installing. we ran into the same problem. talk with your DBA i think it was ownership or something along those lines of the permissions we needed.
