From a discussion I had with support, I understand this isn't an easy thing to do on the V10000 but it's possible that support can do this.

Therefore, I would like to see some options for the easy customisation of block pages.  SurfControl made this "kids play" and you could have a different block page for each different policy.

As most organisations only really want to substitute the Websense logo with their logo and change the word "organization" to their company name, I'm sure this could be facilitated via the WSG GUI without to much trouble.

Therefore I'd like to put this as an RFE please.

It does strike me the more I use the V10000 and WSG that there are a number of facilities that are missing when comparing it to SurfControl.  It's a shame that WS didn't find out what features SC users couldn't live without and incorporate them into v7.

Hi Rick586,

I can pretty much understand your concern. I will put this post to our feature request forum, and address your concern as soon as possible.

We greatly appreciate your suggestion.

Kind Regards,

Hi Rick,

Thank you for your feature request.  We are aware of the requests for customization of block pages and are currently tracking it.  Your information and request has already been added.

We would also like to know, however, what other features you have found are missing from WSG and the V10000 that were in SurfControl?

Awaiting your reply. Thanks!

Hi.

I've already reported in another thread other missing features such as the Real-time monitor that's another feature missing.  Also, speaking of customised pages, SC had the ability to have a customisable page per policy.  So, for example, if you applied a policy to a group of users, they could have their own customised page!  Here are some examples of this in action and why you might want this;

Users with restricted Internet access - their block page explains what categories are allowed

Users with time restriction access - their block page explains what times access is allowed

Users with exceptions - their block page explains that their access is outside of the normal coporate access due to them having a valid business reason

And the list goes on!  Do we use this at my organisation?  Yes, very much so or we did with SC.  In fact, we were able to insert the code from our Intranet and make the block page look just like another page on our corporate Intranet.

Features that are missing compared to the competition are https scanning by category.  An example here would be scanning all legitamate https sites other than say, banking, valid ecommerce and other sites.  Https sites that didn't have a valid certificate, could be blocked.  Or scan all https traffic other than selected categories.  I'm sure either way would be an improvment on the curerent situation which is site based.

If I think of anymore, I'll post them here.

Thanks.

I agree, I have been trying to get Custom Changes working on my V5000 and same thing. All the instructions I have located do not work. I have a feeling the paths that need to be put int the custom pages are wrong.

So, is it possible to do it now? I cannot find the related document...

Update: found the doc

The master.html file includes the HTML code used to display to a Websense logo on the block page. To display your organization's logo instead:

  1. Copy the block page files from ...\Websense\BlockPages\en\Default or ...\Websense\Web Security\BlockPages\en\Default to the ...\Websense\BlockPages\en\Custom or ...\Websense\Web Security\BlockPages\en\Custom directory, if they have not already been copied.
  2. Copy an image file, containing your organization's logo, to the same location.
  3. Open the master.html file with a text editor such as Notepad or vi (not an HTML editor). Edit the path in the following line to replace the Websense logo with your organization's logo:

    <img title="Websense" src="/en/Custom/wslogo_block_page.png"...>

    • Replace the wslogo_block_page.png file name with the name of the image file containing your organization's logo.
  4. Save and close the file.
  5. Restart Filtering Service and Network Agent to implement the change.

"The trick" was to create the /en/Custom/ folder...I was adding the pic on the Images  which is the default value.

Need to Mention that Triton is disabled on the Appliance and I use it on separate W2008R2 Server  so...

One thing you might want to do is search all of the files you put in Custom and fix their paths so they only reference Custom. There are a number of paths that need changed.I did this so I was sure where they were pointing.

One thing we noticed is that even though you can upload a non PNG file, it will display in Firefox but it won't display in IE. Go figure. A PNG displayed fine in both. Must be a difference in the MIME type handling.

Has anyone had success with this? I cannot get this to work on a V5000 appliance.

Using the Appliance Manager/Administrator/Toobox I choose 'Custom block page' download and edit the master.html, blockStyle.css, and security.js. I want to add our logo and change the verbiage from "content blocked by your organization" to "content blocked by ORGANIZATION NAME".

I see the en/Custom directory on our Windows 2008 R2 Policy Server, but updating the files there has no effect on the block page on the appliance. I assume the logo will need to be uploaded to the editable directory on the appliance, but the master.html page always displays a broken image.

Any help?
