When an end user gets the "Network Errors" blocked page they are confused and think that it is being blocked, not that it is just not found.  We have around 2500 users so I get these phone calls multiple times a week.  Sometimes the target site is down, but most likely the user has the address incorrect.

Does anybody know of a way to change just the Network Errors blocked page so that we can let the users know that the site is not available and to check the address?

One of our programers thought that he might be able to add an "If, then" statement, but wasn't sure how that would work.

Thank you,

Heather Benda, CISSP

Hello Heather,

Honestly, I am also curious about this. From Websense side, we provide our default block page for customer to customize, but as being Websense Technical Support team, we cannot help you to design the block page. From my point of view, I think your idea is achievable, but I do not know how either. Do you have expert Web designer in your company to consult with? Please keep me informed if you find a way to do this.

Thanks,

I've seen some customers do this, but it requires essentially a javascript code to modify the page contents based on the text of a variable.

Exact procedure cannot be shared as Websense Technical Support staff are prohibited from providing guidance on web page creation.
