Hi,

I recently migrated my 7.1 install of websense to 7.6.

I saw an option for the logon agent that I did not see in 7.1 (I do not know if it was availible in 7.1). The option is maximum number of connection.

what does this options means? Is it the number of logon agent that can run at the same time? I have 4000 user license and in a normal day it can go up to 3500-3700 user.

The logon agent is run throught the logon script in persistent mode on every machine.

could having only 200 maximum connection cause me problem?

thank you

Persistant mode for Logon Agent application doesn't make Logon Agent use persistant connections or make it always communicating with the Logon Agent Service.  What it does is to stay resident in memory and periodically communicate with that service.  Between those times, it is monitoring for a dhcp change (should you have that enabled) or inactive in memory space.

Therefore, a setting of 200 maximum connections for the Logon Agent Service itself shouldn't be a problem as I doubt that your user community would hit it at the same exact time.  There will be a few that would, but the connection is quick, so I don't see any lasting effects.

You can do a netstat on the Logon Agent server and look at the number of connections to port 15880 (if i remember that's the port for Logon Agent), to properly gauge if you should bump that up past 200.
