Good Morning guys,
I got some questions about Websense Web Security:
- There is any way of Websense show https as http? I mean: https://www.facebook.com (for exemple)... today it shows just the IP of the https, which let my reports so damn poor.
- After solve the https thing I would like to show in reports just the sites that resolve names... I don't want IP's to appear on it... is that possible?
- Other doubt is about the Youtube for exemple. In reports it doesn't show the URL properly. That is a problem since i got to let users use youtube but i need to know which movies they are seeing to avoid problems.I would like to get in report something like this: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p79yzME_sA8)Today when I go to any movie of youtube, websense shows like 10 URLS but not even 1 of they lead me to the movie :/
Please if you know the answer for any of the questions above i would like to know.
Thanks in advance,
Felipe Petitto
Question 1 -- This is possible with a proxy solution such as Websense Content Gateway. In order to get URL for HTTPS you need to be inline and an application level to see it. Otherwise, HTTPS traffic is encrypted except for source/destination IP which is why it shows that for other integrations.
Question 2 - Not that I'm aware of. You'll still have IPs if people go to sites by IP and not hostname,
Question 3 - You would have to turn on Full URL Logging in Websense (and that may not even work), but that is a HUGE mess and requires a much larger amount of disk space; I wouldn't recommend it. If you really want to see what videos people are watching you'll need to start looking into employee spying software to put on their desktops...
