Hello

We have started using the scheduler function in Websense 7.1 in Explorer reporting for some Investigative reports I have created.

The reports run on time and generate the PDF reports as requested and are stored on the reporter server in the usual directory /explorer_wse/other/nameofreport.pdf

However, although the email is generated and sent to the required recipient, the actual PDF attachment seems to be stripped out and replaced with hundreds of lines of mime code, example below

------=_NextPart_000_00BF_01BF610E.1038FD70

Content-Type: application/octet-stream;

name="reportname.pdf"

Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

Content-Disposition: attachment;

filename="reportname.pdf"

Also the subject line is something like this below, even though I have selcted cutome subject line

=?UTF-8?B?Q09SUCBSRVMgLSBTRUxFQ1QgVVNFUlMgLSBJbnRlcm5ldCBVc2FnZSBSZXBvcnQgLSBCcm93

Any ideas guys ?  I am assuming that investigative reports can be attached to scheduled emails as they did with Reporter in 6.3

Thanks all in advance

Paul

EDIT *** Have just checked and scheduled PRESENTATION reports are attached to emails OK and are NOT being stripped out....looks like the issue is with INVESTIGATIVE reports...again do they support this ?

1 Check to see if the size of the attachements is larger than the message size limit on the mail server. If so, increase the size or consider splitting the large report into smaller reports.

Note: When SMTP transfers mail, it will decrypt data into base64 unicode and the size will be larger than the real size of the pdf files.
hotfix
2 apply the V7.1 HF83 Investigative Reports Rollup #6 from https://www.websense.com/content/mywebsense-hotfixes.aspx?details=false&prodidx=0&osidx=0&intidx=0&versionidx=16

Hi Paul,

First of all I would like to clarify :

v6.3 - Explorer and Real-time analyzer is similar to v7.1 - Investigative Reports.

v6.3 - Reporter is similar to v7.1 - Presentation Reports.

Can you access Investigative Reports in Websense Manager > Reporting? do you get any error messages?

When did the issue start happening? Did it occur after you upgrade?

Check the Windows Event Log to see any messages that may appear in relation to the Websense Service. Also check the websense.log file.

Best regards
