We are using Surf Control version 5.5.2.201 SP3 with SQLServer express. Is there a way to schedule a database purge to run at specific times?

I already know how to purge and compact the database manually. I am looking for a way to schedule a database purge on a monthly basis.

You can schedule certain events that consume high bandwidth or that need users to be logged off the
network to take place at a convenient time. To Schedule an event:
1. From the Web Filter Manager, select Maintenance > Scheduler from the appropriate collector or database in the Navigation tree. The Scheduler is also available from the Start > All Programs >SurfControl Web Filter menu.
2.Click Add Item. The Scheduler Item Configuration dialog box displays.
3. Select the event you want to configure from the Select item to configure list.(should select *database management*)
4. Select when you want the event to occur:
• Hourly
• Daily
• Weekly
• Monthly
• Yearly
Further options are available depending on the frequency chosen.
5. Enter a name for the event in the Description field.
6. Click Configure. Depending on the event chosen, a dialog box will appear.
7. Once you have completed the details in the dialog box, click OK.
8.Click OK in the Item Configuration dialog box. Your event should now be listed in the Scheduler main
dialog box.

Note: When you installed Web Filter you could choose to set up a combined Archive and Purge
scheduled event. This event is configured to run once a month. You can configure the settings
for this event by selecting it in the Scheduler and clicking Configure.(admin guide:page navigation input136)

Samantha...

Hey, thanks for your help. The weird thing is that when I look at the scheduler, the "database combined" task is scheduled to run on the first of every month. But, I'm not sure how to tell if it ran on the 1st of January. I guess i'll check on the 1st of February.

To test if it would work or not,you can config the event to occur hourly .After one hour ,if the database purge runs, then it should work well. You can also check directly on the 1st of February.
