v7.6 included the new "Security Override" feature which, by default, blocks any attempts to recategorize a website that's blocked and in the Security Risk risk class.  I think this is an awesome feature, however right now it's simply too inflexible.  There are certain cases where someone would need to allow such a recategorization and right now the only ways to do it are much more dangerous.

If I need to allow a site that was improperly categorized as Spam, for example, I have 2 choices: 1) Remove the category it's in from the Security Risk class, or 2) Disable the Security Override feature entirely.  These are harsh and dangerous options.  We really need the ability to exclude a website(s) from the Security Override feature WITHOUT compromising / deactivating the security that feature provides otherwise.  This could be a separate list for all I care, but somewhere an administrator should be able to decide to exclude a site from being blocked by Security Override without having to disable chunks of it.

Hi,

Thank you for inquiring about a new feature in Websense Web Security.  Your request (FR201202-4290) has been entered into our Feature Request  tracking system, and our Product Management team will review it within the next 30 days.  If you need a response sooner, we recommend that you open a case with Technical Support.  When the request is reviewed, the product manager will decide whether to accept this for future consideration or ask for more information.  Please note that Websense receives a high volume of feature requests, and as such Websense cannot include all of these requests in the next product release.  That said, the product team is constantly revisiting the list of requests to determine the features that have been most frequently requested, so that the highest priority features are addressed.

We look forward to your continued participation in the Websense community and welcome your active involvement in our product direction.

Thank you.

Phil

This is a great suggestion and something I would like to see to.

Is there any way to register interest in feature requests to give weight to more popular requests?
