We're running Websense Web Security 7.1 between two separate server vm's. We have the Websense Administrator on one and the reporting services on the other. The reporting server was down recently with tons of error messages. It was pretty ugly. Well, I got everything to come back up after hours of work and I can finally log into the Administrative console once again. It even tells me there are "No Problems" in the Health Alert Summary.

Everything seems to be running, but nothing is being filtered or blocked. I've already restarted the Apache Services.

We also received the following email

"Subject: Websense Alert: Database Download Failure

Date: 3/14/2012 2:02:29 PM

Type: Information

Source: Websense Filtering Service

Filtering Service: x.x.x.x

Your Websense system is shutting down because it has been unable to download the Websense Master Database for 15 days. Internet filtering will no longer occur.

Contact Websense Technical Support if you need further assistance.

I submitted a service request this morning but haven't heard from anyone.

Please advise!

Is your VM farm on a HP Blade system?  HP Virtual Connect won't pass spanned / mirrored traffic at this point.  We had the same issue, migrated back to the old farm housed on some DL585's and filtering resumed.  The servers think everything is fine but nothing actually gets filtered due to HP VC.

Just a thought...

No, but thanks for the suggestion!

I should also mention that I did already download the new database. It downloaded and installed with no issues. Everything was working about a month ago.
