I would like to request that the content gateway do the 307 redirect for authentication in the same protocol as the webpage that it was on. Example: User A is typing their username and password into an https:// site to login. The WCG does a 307 redirect to their browser in order to authenticate the user on http://, which gives the user a warning message about being switched from https to http. If the WCG would do the 307 redirect for authentication over https, this would hopefully not happen. Also, if the site is just http, the WCG would need to do the 307 redirect for authentication over http to keep that from happening the other way around.
I want to request this as we instruct users not to continue to sites where their information may be insecure, and this is what they think is happening every time. We would rather keep the security mindset instead of telling users to just click through all warnings.
Thank you for inquiring about a new feature in Websense Web Security. Your request has been entered into our Feature Request tracking system, and our Product Management team will review it within the next 30 days. If you need a response sooner, we recommend that you open a case with Technical Support. When the request is reviewed, the product manager will decide whether to accept this for future consideration or ask for more information. Please note that Websense receives a high volume of feature requests, and as such Websense cannot include all of these requests in the next product release. That said, the product team is constantly revisiting the list of requests to determine the features that have been most frequently requested, so that the highest priority features are addressed. We look forward to your continued participation in the Websense community and welcome your active involvement in our product direction.
